# 1 – A Place To Call Home.
When you come to a magical winter wonderland like this, make it a magical experience. Winter ski chalets in Verbier are the best choice to make the most of your holiday. Private and luxurious, these homes have everything you could ever need. If you do need something else, the chalet manager is on call and eager to set it up for you. A private chef for your dinner party? No problem, with a gorgeous decked out kitchen you will be the talk of the ski circle. Sore muscles from a long day on the slopes? Come home and relax in your private sauna. This is definitely the best thing to do in Verbier!
#2 – Skiing!!
Verbier has quite a large ski domain with a varying difference in elevation from almost two thousand metres to just over three thousand metres. Also a part of the Four Valleys ski resort, in the winter months this gets you access to hundreds of kilometres of trails. There are flat slopes for new comers and the ability to go off piste for experienced skiers. With ten ski schools and experienced instructors you can brush up or bring along the kids for their first lesson.
#3 – La Réserve du Haut Val de Bagnes
In nineteen sixty eight Switzerland created a nature reserve in Verbier’s boundaries. Since then people from all over the world have enjoyed hiking, walking and cycling around the lush property. A quintessential alpine feeling with thick pine tree covered hills and a glassy blue lake rests at the foot. This is a weekend in heaven. Trails are clearly marked and timed. For a wildlife tour, take the six-hour Chamois Trail that meanders through the entire reserve.
#4 – Mountain Biking Adventures…In The Actual Mountains.
Many times when one thinks of mountain bikes they think of the actual bike itself, a tough heavy bike with thick tyres, used on trails and rough terrain, sometimes even in the streets. But here, in the mountains one can ride one of these Tanks of a bike down the mountainside. From June to September the Four Valley’s network of cable-cars and ski lifts are available for bikers to access the mountain biking trails. There are kilometres and kilometres available, you won’t ever get bored in one holiday. Bring your own bike or hire a bike here. These trails have four difficulty levels: Green is low, Blue is medium, Red is high and Black is considered dangerous.
#5 – Fondation Gianadda Gallery and Museum
Just outside of Verbier is a beautiful drive through the winding roads and mountainscapes. The views are spectacular, however the highlight is Fondation Gianadda, a large exhibition hall built in the seventies.
It plays host to many temporary art exhibitions. Like the altitude, the standards are high here. Just in the year two thousand seventeen alone there were shows for Munch, Hodler, Monet and Cézanne. A permanent collection of vintage cars and ancient artefacts from Roman times are always on display.
For many visitors the best part of Fondation Gianadda is the sculpture garden with authentic pieces by Rodin, Jean Dubuffet, Max Ernst, Alexander Calder, Chagall, and Joan Miró. The actual building is quite a piece of modern art to ponder as well.
