Now that the pandemic is getting under control and travel restrictions are being lifted throughout the UK and around the world, children everywhere are getting excited for summer break. With no set schedules, children can play outside as long as they want. But that means parents need to pay extra attention and keep an eye on their children and keep them safe and protected, while under the hot summer sun.
If you have been searching for a fun, reliable day care centre, contact Mighty Oaks Nursery today and see why we are chosen by more parents than any other childcare centre.
With That in Mind, we are Going to Take a Look at Some Ways to Keep your Kids Safe This Summer:
Avoid Eating Wild Berries- many berries are edible, but some can make your children sick, with symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and diarrhoea. Although animals can eat wild berries, they are not always safe for human consumption. Avoid green, yellow, and white berries because these colours usually indicate inedible berries. Black and blue berries are usually safe to eat, while about half of red berries are not edible.
Minimise Risks When Swimming- whether you swim at the pool, river, lake, or beach with your children, make sure that they never swim alone. If possible, give your children a life vest, even if they can swim. When children enter the water, they should do it feet first. Diving headfirst may cause severe injuries if the water is shallow. Always stay in designated swimming areas to avoid strong currents, big waves, deep water, and dangerous animals.
Prevent Sunburn- prolonged or excessive exposure to the sun will easily cause sunburn in children because they have more delicate skin. Choose sunscreen products for children with SPF 30 or higher. Check the packaging and make sure children will be protected against UVA and UVB rays. Gentle sunscreen products typically contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide that protects sensitive areas like shoulders, ears, cheeks, and nose. Be sure to reapply sunscreen every couple of hours if your children are swimming.
